Happy Half Birthday!

I have always loved birthdays.  Ever since I was little.
Not just my birthday, but birthdays in general.
And I think I have made that very clear.

Birthdays are made to celebrate.  They are about giving and spending time with the people you care about.  Birthdays are about celebrating the individual and letting them know how special they are.

When the calendar hits January I start counting down the days …. But why wait an entire year to celebrate your special day?  I don’t.
And I hope that will never change.  I am a big believer in half birthdays.  6 months till your birthday??? celebrate.

In college, I would always make sure to decorate the house or my roommate’s doors on their half birthdays.  Of course we all know when our birthdays are, but most don’t keep track of their half birthdays… which makes the element of surprise so much better.

I met Stone in January.  The beginning of my week long 21st birthday celebration (which actually lasted well into mid February... but that’s a different story).
He knew exactly what he was getting himself into right from the start.

I should probably stop there with celebrating the half way mark to a special date.
But along with birthdays, it seems to carry on into other aspects of my life.
Take dating.
I was actually offended when Stone didn’t remember our half year anniversary after dating for 6 months.
Now… that might be silly, and that’s fine, as long as he remembers June 4th I won’t give him a hard time.
But I hope the kid in me will always continue to celebrate half birthdays with the ones I love.
It’s my own special way of letting you know just happy I am to have you in my life.
