something so right

first.
hit play.

{their song}

today is my mommy and daddy's 30th wedding anniversary!
30!

my family has a bighugeundying love for tradition
and every year, on October 3rd if you peek in the window of our house you will see:

 my mom
wearing her white wedding dress from 30 years ago
{which still fits p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y}
and my dad, her handsome groom dancing to their wedding song:
"Something So Right" by Barbra Streisand

yes.every year.
even when  my mom was pregnant, the wedding dress would be on, the back of it wide open
and they'd be dancing

as part of the tradition, Colin, Brianna and I would always sit on the couch and watch them
watch mom always tear up

 my parents say that when we were little,
we found the whole thing to be very interesting and would sit there with big eyes.
when we got older we would roll our eyes and say things like "do we have to sit here anymore"

but now that we are older
and have flown the coop
i think its safe to say we have a new found appreciation for their sweet tradition

it sort of makes me want to cry happy tears just thinking about it
{or maybe its because i am listening to their song as i write this.
 this song. the words. it gets me. it does}

 its all just so very sweet. and rare. and wonderful
something so right

 i can't wait to carry on their perfect little tradition

so happy happy anniversary, mom and dad!

holy cow, what a tradition. i feel like the best thing parents can do for their children is really love each other. you're lucky you've had that. i hope i'm that in love for forever too.

This is so sweet. I love how you talk about your non-existant future wedding dress because I do the same. Honestly, I've had my wedding in the works since I was like 5, so....

not sure if that's normal,but it's cool.

I hope this type of love lasts a lifetime in my life, too! Congrats to your parents!

ok honestly? That is the awesomest thing I have ever heard. SERIOUSLY.

In a day and age where most people don't even make it 5 years, the fact that your parents made it thirty and STILL dance on their wedding day is freaking awesome.

HAPPY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THEM!!
